Salsabil Privacy Policy
Effective: 27 October 2026
Salsabil ("the app", "we", "us") is an independent app. In short: we don't collect your personal data, we don't track you, and there are no ads.
Data that stays on your device
- Location. Salsabil uses your location to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction, and does those calculations on your device. We never receive your location, and it is never shared with us or any third party. You can choose a city manually instead of sharing your location.
- Your worship data. Your prayer log (including menstruation and travel mode periods), qada count, tasbih counts, Quran bookmarks, reading progress, khatm plan, fasting log and settings are stored on your device. They leave it only if you turn on iCloud sync (below).
- Notifications and alarms. Adhan alarms and reminders are scheduled locally by iOS on your device.
Data that leaves your device
- City name lookup (Apple Maps). To show the name of your city, and when you search for a city, the app asks Apple's Maps service through iOS. Apple receives your approximate location or your search text for that lookup, under Apple's privacy policy (apple.com/legal/privacy). We do not receive it.
- iCloud sync (optional, Salsabil Premium). If you turn on iCloud sync, your prayer log, qada count, tasbih history, bookmarks, reading progress, khatm plan and fasting log are also stored in the private database of your own iCloud account, so they stay the same on your devices and come back if you reinstall. Apple stores and handles it under Apple's privacy policy; we can't access it. Settings, Prayer Lock and downloaded recitations and tafsir never sync. Turning sync off stops it.
- Quran recitation audio. When you play a recitation, or download one for offline listening, the app fetches audio files from a public audio server. As with any internet request, that server can see your IP address. No identifier or personal information is sent, and we don't receive or store anything.
- Tafsir. When you open the tafsir of a verse, or download the tafsir for offline reading, the app fetches it from QuranEnc.com (Encyclopedia of the Noble Quran). The request names only the surah. As with any internet request, QuranEnc can see your IP address. No identifier or personal information is sent, and we don't receive or store anything.
- Purchases. Salsabil Premium subscriptions and purchases are processed by Apple. We don't receive your name, email address or payment details. To check whether you have Premium, the app uses Adapty (adapty.io), which receives your App Store transaction information and a random, anonymous profile ID created by the app. We have turned off advertising-identifier collection in Adapty. See Adapty's privacy policy at https://adapty.io/privacy.
What we don't do
- No analytics or tracking SDKs, no advertising, and no data brokers.
- No accounts and no sign-in.
- We never sell or share your data, because we don't have it.
Apple may share crash reports and usage statistics with developers if you have opted in under iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements. These are anonymous and controlled by Apple.
Children
Salsabil is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Because we don't hold personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, export or delete. Deleting the app removes all of its data from your device. If you used iCloud sync, you can delete the iCloud copy in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Salsabil. If you have questions under GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA or any other privacy law, contact us and we'll respond within 30 days.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above.
